Take It From A Former College Graduate: Study This Advice.
Going to college is a huge step in a person’s life. It can be an exciting experience. There are a number of responsibilities that students have to adjust to compared to their last few years. As an experienced college grad, I thought I should share a little knowledge with them.
Plan on banging out some study work first thing in the morning every single day. Chances are you are at your sharpest mentally soon after you wake up in the morning. That is assuming you weren’t out partying the night before. Make the most of the clear mind and see how much work you can get done in the least amount of time. It will make most days go much smoother.
Avoid making the error of scheduling classes back to back or too close together. There are going to be plenty of times when you want to get something done right before class that you forgot about. You need the extra time. Plus, you don’t want to be rushed getting from class to class.
Make it a point to make new friends in class on the first day. Introduce yourself to anyone sitting next to you in the room. Find out if you have anything in common. You need to have someone you can bounce ideas off of for class or just to ask general questions if the need occurs.
Get a locked box for your dorm room. You really want to have somewhere safe to keep personal items. Otherwise, you are likely to eventually end up having something come up missing. Then you will be tempted to look for someone to blame. You’ll never really know if it was your own fault or if somebody stole from you.
Get started on the right foot. Take good notes on the very first day of class. You may expect the first day to be a breeze. It probably won’t be. Make sure you have your supplies together. There will be certain things mentioned that you don’t want to forget.
You should set aside certain times to get together with other students in each of your major classes for a study group. Don’t go overboard. You don’t need too many people. You only want just a few. Anymore than that and your study group will turn into a party.
Make your study area in your room as comfortable and as well organized as possible. It is really important to be organized. When you are bugging out because you have got too much work to do, it will be a lot more bearable if you’re well organized.
